The ORLY stock price today is $178.77 -18.89%.
“The company said same-store sales rose 1.7% from a year ago, below its previously-provided guidance of 3% to 5% growth, and below the FactSet consensus of a 3.9% increase.” O’Reilly Automotive’s stock rocked by same-store sales miss
So sales did rise, but sales did not rise enough to meet or beat the market expectations.
So the stock price was hit hard.
Not only that, but auto parts competitors were hit as well.
Advance Auto Parts stock price today is $105.21 -12.55%.
AutoZone stock price today is $516.83 -10.62%.
Genuine Parts Co stock price today is $89.16 -5.05%.
This is not uncommon.
When a company in a particular industry reports positive or negative news, related stocks tend to go along for the ride whether they want to or not.
Now the big question.
First, check out these Retail Discretionary Stocks.
After looking at the 1 year chart for each of these 4 auto parts companies, you’ll notice a disturbing trend.
Each stock is down about 35%. GPC is only down 13%.
AMZN is up 32%, but that’s not relevant, right…I heard Amazon just sells books.
Check out the screen shot below.
So, Amazon sells auto parts too?
I am staying away from $AAP, $AZO, $ORLY, $GPC for now.
Meanwhile, the Amazon stock price is $971.40 +1.83% today.
Would you buy auto parts at Amazon?
