When a stock hits a 52 week low, that usually means the company is doing one or more this wrong.
When looking at today's new lows, it may be tempting to just get in and hope for a big return if or when it moves back up to it's previous highs.
What I look for is a reversal in the downtrend before getting in.
This reversal seems to be especially powerful when the stock has moved higher a few days after the most recent earnings announcement.
